DRESSING FOR WARMTH

When preparing for your newborn session during the colder months, dressing your baby in layers and choosing soft, warm fabrics is essential. Layering not only keeps your little one cozy but also allows for easy adjustments to their comfort level.

For parents, wearing comfortable, layered clothing is also recommended. This ensures you can easily adapt to the studio’s warmth while staying relaxed and at ease during the session.

I have extra blankets or wraps to keep your baby snug and cozy. These can be used during transitions or when your baby needs a little extra warmth, these are washed and cleaned to be used. Not only do these additional layers provide comfort.

STUDIO ENVIRONMENT

I make it a priority to ensure a warm and cozy environment for your newborn session, especially during the colder months. My studio is heated and that maintains a comfortable temperature of around 23 degrees Celsius, creating a soothing atmosphere for your little one. I understand that newborns are sensitive to temperature changes, so I take extra care to keep them snug throughout the session.

To provide additional warmth, I use a supplementary heater positioned near the baby’s bottom, ensuring they stay warm at around 25 degrees Celsius. This careful attention to temperature helps keep your baby comfortable and content during the session.

In addition to the heating system, I use soft, plush blankets and wraps to keep your baby warm and cozy. The cozy setups are designed to make both you and your baby feel at ease, allowing me to capture those precious moments without any discomfort. I also offer a selection of props and accessories to add a seasonal touch to your photos while ensuring the utmost comfort.

HEALTH & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.

Your baby’s health and safety are my top priorities, especially during the colder season and the colder months. I am committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for every newborn session.

I adhere to strict hygiene protocols, including frequent handwashing and using hand sanitizers before handling your newborn. All props, blankets, and wraps are cleaned and sanitized after each use to prevent any risk of germs or allergens.

Additionally, I keep the studio well-ventilated and monitor the health of everyone involved. If I am feeling unwell, I will reschedule the session to ensure your baby’s safety. I will reach out to you first and see what we can do! I also encourage parents to inform me if they or their baby are experiencing any symptoms, so we can take appropriate precautions or reschedule if necessary.

By prioritizing these health and safety measures, I aim to provide a safe, comfortable, and stress-free experience for you and your newborn, allowing us to focus on capturing those precious moments.

PREPARING PARENTS

Pack the Essentials:

    • Bring a nappy bag with all the necessities, including nappies, wipes, and a change of clothes for the baby. Accidents happen, and it’s always good to be prepared.

Feeding and Napping:

    • Aim to feed your baby right before the session to ensure they are full and content or you can do this when you get to the studio. A well-fed baby is often more relaxed and sleepy, making it easier to capture those peaceful, serene moments.
    • Try to keep your baby awake for a little while before the session, if possible, to increase the chances of them being sleepy during the shoot. But don’t worry if not!

Dress Comfortably:

    • Choose comfortable clothing for yourself, preferably in neutral tones, as these tend to photograph well and keep the focus on your baby. Avoid bold patterns that might distract from the main subject.
    • Consider bringing a change of clothes for yourself, just in case.

Stay Relaxed and Flexible:

    • Newborn sessions can take time, and it’s important to stay patient and relaxed. Babies can be unpredictable, and taking breaks for feeding or soothing is perfectly normal.
    • Trust the process and enjoy the experience. Your calm demeanor will help your baby feel more at ease.

Bring Personal Items:

    • If there are any personal items or heirlooms you’d like to include in the photos, feel free to bring them along. These can add a unique and meaningful touch to the images.

By taking a little time to prepare, you can help ensure a smooth and enjoyable session that captures the beauty and innocence of your newborn. Remember, this is a special moment for your family, and I am here to make it as memorable and stress-free as possible.
